Privacy Policy
Last updated: 22 March 2026
TruePath ("we", "our", "us") operates the TruePath website and mobile application (collectively, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our Service. By using TruePath, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
1. Information We Collect
Account information: When you register, we collect your first name, last name, email address, and the role you select (dog owner or companion).
Profile information: Companions may provide a bio, suburb, postcode, profile photo, cover photo, gallery photos, years of experience, home environment details, and certifications. Dog owners may provide dog names, breeds, photos, and health information.
Location data: During active walks, the app collects your device's GPS coordinates to power live walk tracking. We request location access only while the app is in use (foreground). Location data is associated with the booking record and accessible to the owner who booked the walk.
Photos: Photos you upload (profile, dog, gallery, walk photos) are stored in our cloud storage (Supabase) and are accessible via public URLs to users of the Service.
Usage data: We automatically collect information about how you interact with the Service, including pages viewed, features used, and device information (operating system, app version).
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Create and manage your account
- Facilitate bookings between dog owners and companions
- Display your public profile to other users of the Service
- Provide live walk tracking and walk photo sharing
- Send booking confirmations, reminders, and service notifications
- Improve, personalise, and develop the Service
- Comply with legal obligations
3. Information Sharing and Disclosure
Other users: Your public profile (name, suburb, bio, photos, ratings) is visible to all users. Booking details are shared between the owner and companion involved in the booking.
Service providers: We use the following third-party services to operate TruePath:
- Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage. Data is stored in Supabase-managed infrastructure. See supabase.com/privacy.
- Expo / EAS — mobile app build and distribution infrastructure.
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties.
Legal requirements: We may disclose your information if required by law or in good faith belief that such action is necessary to comply with legal obligations, protect our rights, or ensure the safety of users.
4. Data Retention
We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal information within 30 days, except where retention is required by law or to resolve disputes.
Walk location data is retained as part of the booking record for up to 12 months, after which it is anonymised.
5. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), row-level security on our database, and secure token-based authentication. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you become aware that a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate information
- Request deletion of your personal information
- Object to or restrict certain processing of your information
- Receive your data in a portable format
To exercise these rights, contact us at hello@truepath.services.
8. Cookies and Tracking
The TruePath website uses cookies and similar technologies to maintain your session and remember your preferences. The mobile app does not use web cookies. You can control cookie settings through your browser; disabling cookies may affect Service functionality.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting a notice in the app or via email. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
